Beginners Guide to Creating a Business Blog

Why you need to blog to get noticed onlineThere’s no getting away from it – if you want people to find you online you absolutely MUST have a blog – and preferably a WordPress self-hosted blog.

When I started searching for a blogging platform in 2008 and looked at my options for taking my training and coaching business online I noticed a lot of people creating FREE blogs – this is a BIG mistake!

Why so? Well, when you have a free blog it means you don’t own the space on the Internet where it is hosted (I know it sounds complicated – but stick with me here!) this means your blog and all its precious content could disapprear overnight… in fact, that’s just what happend to many newbie online entrepreneurs… they lost all their content!

So, I don’t recommend a free blog as your MAIN communication tool. You’ll find the best route to go is hosting your own WordPress blog. First of all you buy a domain, I use GoDaddy as it’s very reasonably priced. But DON’T use GoDaddy for hosting as they don’t have CPanel and you need this to manage your own account.

You’ll need some space on the Internet to host your business blog, I use BlueHost as I know it is ideal for beginners with limited computer skills and their advisors are available 24/7 on the end of a phone to help you out if you get stuck (and if you are considering doing the techie stuff yourself – you’ll probably will get stuck in the beginner… like we all do!)
